macbook air connecting to school wifi

i just purchased my macbook air last night and went home and set it up and i love it, wifi works perfect at home but i tried to connect to it at school and the wifi at our school requires a username and password which i have and it is the correct one because it works on my phone but when i try to do it on my macbook it says i cant because it requires WPA2 enterprise credentials, im not sure what that means and i just really need the wifi to connect.. can anyone help me out?
